For the advanced beginner, this class allows you to apply your kit of machine and hand sewing skills to create your own custom-made clothing.

In this class you will learn:

• How to choose a commercial sewing pattern.
• How to select and purchase fabric fit for your purpose.
• About haberdashery required to complete a garment.
• How to read and follow a commercial sewing pattern.
• How to adjust a pattern to achieve a custom fit.
• How to place a pattern and cut fabric.
• How to read and follow a commercial sewing pattern.
• When and how to use interfacing.
• How to sew with minimal pinning.
• The best way to press your sewing.
• Techniques for achieving a professional finish.

 
In this class you will create simple and beautiful custom-made clothing using a commercial pattern. You can choose to make a garment from the Handmade By You capsule collection of patterns, or any other commercial pattern that falls within your skill set. The class involves an excursion to a major fabric retailer where you will learn how to select and purchase patterns, fabric and haberdashery required to complete a garment.
 
Classes are for 1.5 hours weekly and cost $300 for a 10 week term. Classes are limited to 7 students to ensure personal tuition.
 
You will need to supply your own fabric and haberdashery for this class, and will have the opportunity to purchase these items during the excursion.
